Ada Cambridge

Ada Cambridge (1844–1926) was an Australian poet, novelist, and journalist. She was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1868. She wrote over 20 novels, as well as numerous poems, essays, and short stories. Her works often explored the lives of women in colonial Australia, and she was a strong advocate for women's rights. She was the first woman to be appointed to the staff of the Melbourne Argus newspaper, and she was a founding member of the Australian Women's National League. She was also a founding member of the Lyceum Club, the first women's club in Australia.
