Edmond Dantès, a young sailor, is falsely accused of treason and imprisoned in the Bastille. Using his newfound wealth and influence, he seeks to punish those who wronged him and to help those in need. Along the way, he falls in love with a young woman named Mercédès and uncovers a conspiracy involving his enemies.
