Alta Tabor (1890-1962) was an American author and teacher. She was born in Kansas and attended the University of Kansas, where she earned a degree in English. She taught in Kansas and Oklahoma before moving to California in the 1920s. Tabor wrote several books for children, including Willie Mouse (1920), The Little Red Hen (1921), and The Little White Duck (1922). She also wrote several books for adults, including The Story of the Bible (1925) and The Story of the Old Testament (1927). Tabor was a member of the California Writers Club and the Authors League of America. She was also a member of the National Education Association and the National Council of Women. She was active in the Los Angeles community, serving on the board of the Los Angeles Public Library and the Los Angeles County Board of Education.
