Born in 1876 in Freikeh, Lebanon to a Maronite Christian family. He was educated at the American University of Beirut and later in New York City. Rihani was a writer, poet, philosopher, and diplomat who advocated for Arab nationalism and unity. He wrote extensively on literature, philosophy, and politics, and served as a delegate to several international conferences.
