Andrés Henestrosa (1906-2008) was a Mexican writer, historian, and politician, known for his work in preserving and promoting Zapotec culture. Born in Ixhuatán, Oaxaca, he wrote extensively in both Spanish and Zapotec, contributing to the documentation of indigenous languages and traditions. His notable works include "Los hombres que dispersó la danza" and "Retrato de mi madre." Henestrosa also served as a senator and was a member of the Mexican Academy of Language.
