Andrés Manuel López Obrador is a Mexican politician who served as the 58th President of Mexico from 2018 to 2024. He is a member of the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) and previously served as the Head of Government of the Federal District from 2000 to 2005. He was also a candidate in the 2006 and 2012 presidential elections, losing both times to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). He was elected President in 2018, becoming the first left-wing president in Mexico since the 1980s. He has been a vocal critic of neoliberalism and has sought to reduce inequality and poverty in Mexico. He has also sought to reduce corruption and crime in the country.
