Arthur Porges (1915-2006) was an American science fiction and fantasy author. He wrote over 200 short stories and several novels, and was a frequent contributor to The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He was known for his clever and often humorous stories, which often featured a twist ending. He was a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the Mystery Writers of America. He was also a member of the Authors Guild. Porges was born in Chicago, Illinois, and attended the University of Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later worked as a technical writer for the U.S. Navy. He was married to the former Ruth L. Porges, and had two children.
