Arthur S. Peake (1865-1929) was an English theologian and biblical scholar. He was born in London and educated at King's College, Cambridge, where he obtained a first-class degree in Classics. He was ordained in the Church of England in 1889 and served as a curate in London before becoming a lecturer in New Testament Greek at King's College in 1891. Peake was a prolific author, writing numerous books and articles on biblical studies, theology, and Christian apologetics. His most famous work is The Expositor's Bible, a 12-volume commentary on the Bible which was published between 1902 and 1919. He also wrote several books on the life and teachings of Jesus, including The Life of Jesus (1909) and The Teaching of Jesus (1912). Peake was a popular lecturer and preacher, and was a member of the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge. He was also a member of the British Academy and the Royal Asiatic Society. He died in 1929 at the age of 64.
