Baillie Reynolds (1879–1936) was a British novelist, born Gertrude M. Baillie Reynolds. She was a prolific popular writer of the early twentieth century, producing more than sixty novels. Her work commonly combines romance, domestic drama, mystery, and melodrama, often centring on questions of marriage, inheritance, social status, and women’s independence. Reynolds’s fiction was widely read in Britain and abroad during her lifetime. Among her better-known novels are The Daughter Pays, The House of the Strange Woman, and The Man Who Won. Although her reputation later declined, her novels remain representative of the commercially successful women’s popular fiction of the Edwardian and interwar periods.
