Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius was a Roman philosopher and statesman born around 480 AD in Rome. He came from an aristocratic family and served as consul in 510 AD. Boethius was known for his translations of Greek philosophical works into Latin, particularly those of Aristotle and Plato.
