C.M. Kornbluth

Cyril M. Kornbluth (July 2, 1923 – March 21, 1958) was an American science fiction author and a member of the Futurians, a group of science fiction writers and editors in New York City in the 1930s and 1940s. He is best known for his collaborations with Frederik Pohl, including The Space Merchants, Gladiator-At-Law, and Wolfbane. He also wrote several solo novels, including Not This August and The Syndic. Kornbluth was born in New York City and attended the University of Chicago, where he studied mathematics and physics. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the Pacific theater. After the war, he returned to New York and resumed his writing career. He died of a heart attack at the age of 34.
