Franz von Rintelen was a German naval officer and author. He was born in 1876 in Berlin, Germany, and joined the German Navy in 1895. He served in the Imperial German Navy during World War I, and was awarded the Iron Cross for his service. After the war, he wrote several books about his experiences, including The Submarine War Against Commerce (1915), The Submarine War Against the United States (1917), and The Submarine War Against England (1918). He also wrote a work about his experiences in the German Navy during World War I, titled My Experiences in the Imperial German Navy (1919). He died in 1945 in Berlin.
