Charles Garvice

Charles Garvice (1868–1943) was an English novelist and short story writer. He wrote over 100 novels, mostly romantic fiction, and was one of the most popular authors of his time. He was born in London and educated at King's College School. He began writing in his twenties, and his first novel, A Girl of the People, was published in 1895. He went on to write a series of novels set in the English countryside, including The White Heather (1902), The Red Rose (1903), and The Bluebells of England (1905). He also wrote a number of stories for magazines such as The Strand and Pearson's Magazine. His works were translated into many languages, and he was particularly popular in the United States. He died in 1943 in London.
