Charles Haddon Spurgeon Chambers (1841-1913) was an English author, journalist, and publisher. He was born in London and educated at King's College London. He began his career as a journalist, writing for the London Standard and other newspapers. He later became a publisher, founding the publishing house of Cassell & Co. in 1877. Chambers wrote several books, including The Life and Letters of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1892), The Life and Work of John Bunyan (1893), and The Life and Times of John Wesley (1894). He also wrote several biographies of prominent figures, such as William Wilberforce and John Wesley. He was a strong advocate for the rights of the working class and was a member of the Fabian Society. Chambers was a prominent figure in the literary world of his time, and his works are still widely read today. He was a passionate advocate for social reform and was a strong supporter of the temperance movement. He died in 1913 at the age of 72.
