Charles Minor Blackford (1890-1962) was an American author and historian. He was born in Lynchburg, Virginia and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1912. He served in the United States Army during World War I and was a professor of history at the University of Virginia from 1921 to 1956. Blackford wrote several books, including The Valley of the Masters: A Story of the Shenandoah Valley in the Civil War (1961), which was a bestseller. He also wrote several other books on the Civil War, including Lee's Last Campaign: The Story of Lee and His Men Against Grant—1864 (1958) and The Civil War on the Virginia Peninsula (1961). He was a member of the Virginia Historical Society and the Southern Historical Association.
