Charlotte Hapai is a Māori writer and poet from Aotearoa New Zealand. She is of Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu descent. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Māori from Victoria University of Wellington and a Master of Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters. Her work has been published in journals and anthologies in New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. She has been a finalist for the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards, the New Zealand Book Awards for Poetry, and the New Zealand Society of Authors Mentorship Programme. Charlotte is a passionate advocate for Māori literature and is the co-founder of the Māori Literature Trust. She is also a mentor for the Māori Writers Collective and a tutor for the International Institute of Modern Letters.
