Clara de Chatelain (1845-1917) was a French author and illustrator. She was born in Paris and was educated at the Lycée Condorcet. She wrote and illustrated several books for children, including Up! Horsie! (1876). Her works often featured animals and were known for their humor and wit. She was also a talented painter and exhibited her works at the Salon des Artistes Français. She died in 1917 in Paris.
