The Tragedy of a Third Smoker is a novel by Cutcliffe Hyne, first published in 1898. It tells the story of a young man, John, who is a smoker and a gambler. He is in love with a woman, but she is already engaged to another man. John's life is thrown into turmoil when he meets a mysterious stranger, who offers him a chance to win a fortune in a card game.
