Lady Chatterley's Lover is a novel by D.H. Lawrence, first published in 1928. It tells the story of Lady Constance Chatterley, a young married woman whose husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley, is paralyzed from the waist down due to a war injury. Constance is frustrated by her husband's lack of physical and emotional intimacy, and begins an affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The novel follows their relationship as it develops, and explores themes of class, gender, and sexuality. The novel was controversial at the time of its publication due to its explicit sexual content, and was the subject of a famous obscenity trial in 1960. It has since become a classic of English literature, and is widely considered to be one of Lawrence's greatest works.
