Daniel Blumenthal (1876-1944) was a German-born Jewish historian and author. He was born in Berlin and studied at the universities of Berlin, Strasbourg, and Munich. He was a professor of history at the University of Strasbourg from 1906 to 1914. Blumenthal wrote several books on the history of Alsace-Lorraine, including Alsace-Lorraine: A Study in European Politics (1917). He also wrote on the history of the Jews in Alsace-Lorraine, and on the history of the German Empire. He was a member of the German Historical Society and the German Society for the Study of Jewish History. Blumenthal was forced to flee Germany in 1933 due to the rise of the Nazi Party. He settled in Paris, where he continued to write and publish books on the history of Alsace-Lorraine. He died in Paris in 1944.
