Dmitry Sergeyevich Merezhkovsky (1865-1941) was a Russian author, religious thinker, and critic of the Russian Revolution. He was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and studied at the University of St. Petersburg. He was a major figure in the Russian Symbolist movement, and his works often explored religious and philosophical themes. He wrote novels, plays, and poetry, and was a major influence on the Russian literary scene of the early 20th century. He was also a critic of the Soviet Union, and his works were banned in the Soviet Union for many years. He died in 1941 in Paris, France.
