Ernest Favenc (1845–1908) was an Australian author, journalist, and explorer. He was born in Sydney, Australia, and educated at Sydney Grammar School. He began his career as a journalist, writing for the Sydney Morning Herald and other newspapers. He later became an explorer, travelling to remote parts of Australia and writing about his experiences. Favenc is best known for his novel, Dramingo, which was published in 1887. The novel is set in the Australian outback and follows the adventures of a group of settlers as they attempt to establish a new settlement. The novel was praised for its vivid descriptions of the Australian landscape and its exploration of the themes of courage and perseverance. Favenc also wrote several non-fiction works, including The History of Australian Exploration (1888) and The History of Australian Bushranging (1890). He died in 1908 in Sydney.
