E. Boyd Smith

E. Boyd Smith (1860–1941) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University. He wrote for several newspapers, including the New York Times, and wrote several books, including The Life of General Ulysses S. Grant (1909) and The Life of General William Tecumseh Sherman (1911). He also wrote several novels, including The Red Badge of Courage (1915). He was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
