Donald Carr was an American writer and professor who specialized in literature and writing. He was born on January 15th, 1923, in New York City and attended Columbia University where he earned his bachelor's degree in English Literature. After graduating from college, Donald worked as a journalist for several years before returning to school to earn his master's degree at the University of Chicago. He then went on to teach literature at various universities throughout the United States, including Harvard and Yale. In addition to teaching, Donald was also an accomplished writer himself, publishing several books on literature and writing. His most famous work is probably "The Art of Writing," which has become a classic textbook for aspiring writers.
