E.H. Knatchbull-Hugessen

Sir Ernest Henry Knatchbull-Hugessen, 1st Baron Brabourne (1829–1893) was a British Conservative politician. He was educated at Eton College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was elected to the House of Commons for Sandwich in 1852, a seat he held until 1885, when he was raised to the peerage as Baron Brabourne, of Brabourne in the County of Kent. He served under Lord Derby as Under-Secretary of State for India from 1858 to 1859 and as Paymaster-General from 1866 to 1868. He was also a Lord of the Treasury from 1874 to 1875 and again from 1878 to 1880. He was appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1866.
