Earl Peirce is an American author and historian. He is the author of several books on the history of the American West, including The Great American West: Exploring the Frontier, The American West: A History of Exploration and Settlement, and The American West: A History of Expansion and Conflict. He has also written extensively on the history of the American Civil War, including The Civil War: A History of Conflict and Compromise and The American Civil War: A History of Struggle and Survival. He is a professor of history at the University of Arizona and has taught at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is a member of the Western History Association and the Organization of American Historians.
