Edward W. Ludwig (1917-2006) was an American author and screenwriter. He wrote more than 30 books, including the novel To Save Earth, which was published in 1963. He also wrote several screenplays, including The Great Escape (1963) and The Flight of the Phoenix (1965). Ludwig was born in New York City and attended the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later worked as a journalist and editor for several newspapers. He also wrote for television shows such as The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Wild Wild West. Ludwig was a member of the Writers Guild of America and the Mystery Writers of America.
