Edward William Thomson (1849-1924) was an English author and journalist. He was born in London and educated at King's College, London. He began his career as a journalist in 1871, writing for the London Standard and other newspapers. He wrote several books, including The Life of Charles Dickens (1872), The Life of William Makepeace Thackeray (1876), and The Life of George Eliot (1883). He also wrote several novels, including The Story of a London Clerk (1876) and The Story of a Country Town (1880). He was a prolific writer, and his works were widely read in the late 19th century. He died in 1924 in London.
