Emily Gerard (1849-1905) was a Scottish writer and folklorist. She is best known for her work on Transylvanian folklore, which she wrote about in her book The Land Beyond the Forest (1888). She also wrote extensively on the customs and superstitions of the people of the Carpathian Mountains. She was a prolific writer, publishing articles in magazines and newspapers, as well as books on a variety of topics. She was a passionate advocate for women's rights and was a member of the Edinburgh Ladies' Literary Society. She was also a keen traveler, visiting many countries in Europe and the Middle East.
