Ernest Scott (1867-1939) was an Australian historian and biographer. He was born in Melbourne, Australia, and educated at the University of Melbourne. He was a professor of history at the University of Melbourne from 1906 to 1925. Scott wrote several books on Australian history, including A Short History of Australia (1917), The Life of Captain Matthew Flinders (1914), and The Story of Australia (1926). He also wrote biographies of prominent Australians, such as Sir Henry Parkes and Sir Edmund Barton. He was a member of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and the Australian Historical Society. Scott was a prolific writer and his works are still widely read today. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1935 for his services to Australian history.
