Eugenio Fromentin (1820-1876) was a French novelist, painter, and art critic. He was born in La Rochelle, France, and studied painting in Paris. He was a prolific writer, producing novels, short stories, and essays. His works often focused on the themes of love, death, and the human condition. He was also a noted art critic, writing extensively on the works of the Impressionists. Fromentin was a member of the Académie française and was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1875. He died in Paris in 1876.
