Frances Cornford (née Darwin; 18 December 1886 – 19 August 1960) was an English poet. She was the daughter of the scientist Charles Darwin and his wife Emma Wedgwood. Cornford was born in Cambridge, England, and educated at Newnham College, Cambridge. She married the classicist Francis Cornford in 1908. Cornford's poetry was published in several collections, including Poems (1912), The Moment and Other Poems (1915), and Collected Poems (1935). Her work is known for its wit and satire, and her poems often focus on the themes of love, death, and the passage of time. Cornford was a member of the Bloomsbury Group, and her friends included Virginia Woolf, Lytton Strachey, and E. M. Forster. She was also a member of the Fabian Society. Cornford died in 1960 in Cambridge.
