Frank M. Robinson is an American science fiction and non-fiction author. He is best known for his novel The Glass Inferno, which was adapted into the 1974 disaster film The Towering Inferno. Robinson was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1926. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Chicago, where he earned a degree in journalism. Robinson began his writing career in the 1950s, writing for pulp magazines such as Amazing Stories and Galaxy Science Fiction. He wrote several science fiction novels, including The Power, The Dark Beyond the Stars, and The Donor. Robinson also wrote non-fiction books, including The Great Flying Saucer Hoax and The Modern Book of the Dead. He also wrote several books on the history of science fiction, including Science Fiction of the 20th Century and The Fantasy Makers. Robinson was a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America and the Mystery Writers of America. He was also a member of the National Book Critics Circle. He died in 2014 at the age of 88.
