Franklin P. Adams

Franklin P. Adams (1881-1960) was an American journalist, humorist, and poet. He was best known for his newspaper column, "The Conning Tower," which ran in the New York World and the New York Tribune from 1914 to 1945. Adams was also a member of the Algonquin Round Table, a group of New York City writers, actors, and critics who met regularly for lunch at the Algonquin Hotel. He wrote several books of poetry, including The Melancholy Lute (1917) and The Cowardly Lion and the Brave Tin Soldier (1919). Adams was also a regular contributor to the New Yorker magazine.
