Fred Sheinbaum (1917-2006) was an American author and journalist. He was born in New York City and attended City College of New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a correspondent for the New York Post in Europe. After the war, he wrote for the New York Daily News and the New York Herald Tribune. Sheinbaum wrote several books, including Filthy Rich (1957), a novel about a young man's rise to wealth and power in the world of organized crime. He also wrote a non-fiction book, The Big Bankroll: The Life and Times of Arnold Rothstein (1959), about the notorious gambler and mobster. He also wrote several other novels, including The Big Fix (1962) and The Big Heist (1966). Sheinbaum was a member of the Authors Guild and the Mystery Writers of America. He died in 2006 at the age of 88.
