Frederick John Lazell (1917-2006) was an American author and historian. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in history. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and afterwards worked as a journalist and editor for various publications. Lazell wrote several books on American history, including The American Revolution: A Concise History (1962), The American Civil War: A Concise History (1965), and The American West: A Concise History (1968). He also wrote a biography of President John F. Kennedy, entitled JFK: A Biography (1970). Lazell was a member of the American Historical Association and the Organization of American Historians. He was also a member of the Authors Guild and the National Writers Union. He was awarded the American Historical Association's Award of Merit in 1975.
