G. C. Edmondson (1919-2006) was an American author and professor of English at the University of Oklahoma. He was born in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1941. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to the University of Oklahoma and earned his master's degree in 1947. He then taught at the University of Oklahoma for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. Edmondson wrote several books, including Blessed Are the Meek (1955), The Last of the Plainsmen (1958), and The Great Plains (1962). He also wrote several short stories and essays, and was a frequent contributor to magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's. He was a member of the Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
