George B. Worgan

George B. Worgan (1757-1838) was an English surgeon and author. He was born in London and trained at St. Thomas' Hospital. He was appointed as a surgeon on the First Fleet to Australia in 1787, and served on the HMS Sirius. He wrote a journal of his experiences on the voyage, which was published in 1788. After his return to England, he wrote several books on medical topics, including A Treatise on the Diseases of Seamen (1794) and A Treatise on the Diseases of the Eye (1802). He was a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the Royal Society. He died in 1838.
