Thorvald by George Borrow (1914)

Thorvald is a novel by George Borrow, first published in 1845. It is set in the early 19th century in Norway and tells the story of Thorvald, a young man who is determined to make his own way in life. Thorvald is born into a poor family and is determined to make something of himself. He sets off on a journey to find his fortune, and along the way he meets a variety of characters, including a mysterious old man who gives him a magical ring. Thorvald also encounters a beautiful girl, Ingeborg, who he falls in love with. The novel follows Thorvald as he embarks on a series of adventures, including a daring escape from a prison, a daring rescue of Ingeborg from a band of robbers, and a daring battle against a giant sea monster. In the end, Thorvald is able to achieve his goals and find his fortune. He also finds true love with Ingeborg, and the two are happily married.
