George Grossmith (1847–1912) was an English comedian, writer, composer, actor, and singer. He is best known for his work with Gilbert and Sullivan, performing in their comic operas, and for co-authoring "The Diary of a Nobody" with his brother Weedon Grossmith. The novel, originally serialized in Punch magazine, humorously chronicles the life of a lower-middle-class clerk, Charles Pooter. Grossmith's career spanned over four decades, during which he became a prominent figure in Victorian entertainment.
