George Hay (1853-1917) was a Scottish author and journalist. He was born in Edinburgh and educated at the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a journalist for the Edinburgh Evening News and the Edinburgh Scotsman. He wrote several books, including Carlo Dolci (1908), a biography of the Italian painter Carlo Dolci. He also wrote a number of books on Scottish history and culture, including The History of Scotland (1909) and The Scottish Highlands (1910). He died in 1917 in Edinburgh.
