George O. Smith (1911–1981) was an American science fiction author. He wrote over 50 stories and novels, many of which were published in the 1940s and 1950s. His works often featured themes of space exploration, time travel, and alien civilizations. He was a member of the Futurians, a group of science fiction writers and fans in New York City. He was also a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America. Smith was born in New York City and attended Columbia University. He worked as an engineer and a patent attorney before becoming a full-time writer. He died in 1981 in New York City.
