George Rippey Stewart was an American writer and professor of English literature. He was born on November 17, 1895, in San Francisco, California. Stewart earned his Bachelor's degree from Stanford University and later received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He taught at several institutions, including the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Washington.
