Georges Beaume (1861–1940)

Georges Beaume (1863-1919) was a French writer and journalist. He was born in Paris and studied at the École Normale Supérieure. He was a professor of literature at the University of Bordeaux and a member of the Académie Française. Beaume is best known for his novel Fromentin, which was published in 1913. The novel tells the story of a young man who is sent to a small village in the south of France to teach. He falls in love with a local girl and the two of them struggle to make a life together in the face of poverty and prejudice. Beaume also wrote several other novels, including La Maison des Champs (1908) and La Maison des Bois (1910). He also wrote several plays, including La Maison des Bois (1910) and La Maison des Champs (1912). Beaume died in 1919 at the age of 56.
