The story takes place in the 22nd century where humanity has colonized other planets. A slave ship from Earth arrives on a distant planet and the slaves are sold to various buyers. The main character, a young woman, is bought by a wealthy merchant who intends to use her as a concubine. However, she escapes and joins a group of rebels fighting against the oppressive government that allows slavery.
