The Chronic Argonauts by H.G. Wells
The Chronic Argonauts is a science fiction novella by H.G. Wells, first published in 1888. It tells the story of Dr. Nebogipfel, a scientist who has invented a time machine. He uses it to travel to the future, where he discovers a world of advanced technology and strange creatures. He also discovers a race of intelligent, humanoid creatures called the Chronic Argonauts, who are living in a utopian society. Dr. Nebogipfel soon finds himself in the middle of a conflict between the Chronic Argonauts and a race of hostile aliens called the Morlocks. He must use his knowledge of science and technology to help the Chronic Argonauts defeat the Morlocks and save their utopian society. Along the way, he learns valuable lessons about the power of science and the importance of friendship.

About half-a-mile outside the village of Llyddwdd by the road that goes up over the eastern flank of the mountain called Pen-y-pwll to Rwstog is a large farm-building known as the Manse. It derives this title from the fact that it was at one time the residence of the minister of the Calvinistic Methodists. It is a quaint, low, irregular erection, lying back some hundred yards from the railway, and now fast passing into a ruinous state.
