The she-Wolf by Hector Hugh Munro

A young girl is sent to live with her great-aunt and uncle at their country estate after her parents' death. She struggles to adapt to the strict rules and isolation of the countryside. Her only comfort is a wolf she befriends, which she nurses back to health after it is injured. The wolf becomes a symbol of freedom and companionship for the girl.
