Henry Brereton Marriott Watson (1863–1921) was an English author, journalist, and editor. He was born in London and educated at King's College, Cambridge. He was a prolific writer, contributing to many magazines and newspapers, including The Times, The Saturday Review, The Pall Mall Gazette, and The Westminster Gazette. He was also the editor of The Idler magazine from 1895 to 1899. Watson wrote several books, including The Art of Writing (1890), The Art of Conversation (1891), and The Art of Thinking (1893). He also wrote several novels, including The House of the Seven Gables (1895), The Mystery of the Clasped Hands (1896), and The House of the White Shadows (1898). He was a member of the Society of Authors and the Royal Literary Fund. He died in 1921 in London.
