Herbert Adams (1874–1958)

Herbert Adams (1858-1945) was an American author and historian. He was born in New York City and graduated from Harvard University in 1881. He was a professor of history at Columbia University from 1891 to 1895. Adams wrote several books on American history, including The Founding of the American Republic (1898), The Development of the American Constitution (1902), and The Growth of the American Republic (1930). He also wrote biographies of prominent figures such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. He was a member of the American Historical Association and the American Philosophical Society.
