Herbert C. Fyfe (1890-1962) was an American author and historian. He was born in New York City and attended Columbia University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1912. He went on to earn a master's degree in history from Columbia in 1915. Fyfe was a prolific writer, publishing numerous books and articles on a variety of topics. He wrote extensively on the history of the United States, including books on the American Revolution, the Civil War, and the Reconstruction era. He also wrote biographies of prominent figures such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln. Fyfe was a professor of history at Columbia University from 1921 to 1956. He was also a visiting professor at several other universities, including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. He was a member of the American Historical Association and the American Philosophical Society. Fyfe was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1956 for his book The American Revolution: A History. He died in 1962 in New York City.
